The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is established in the year 1995 offering B.Tech program in Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University. The Department started offering M.Tech program with specialization is Power Electronics & Power Systems in the year 2004. The Department was accredited by NBA in 2004 for three years and Re accredited for five years in the year 2008. Acharya Nagarjuna University recognized the Department as Research Centre.

At present, the Department is offering Undergraduate Program in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, two Post Graduate Programs with specialization in Power Systems and Power Electronics & Drives. The Department is also offering Doctoral Program.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at KLEF is recognized for prominence in teaching, research and service to profession. The Department has a fine amalgam of renowned as well as dynamic young personalities as its faculty. The Department is very active in carrying out sponsored research funded from external agencies like DST-SERB, AICTE, UGC and internal funding from KLEF, a total of around 2 crores funded projects are ongoing or completed. Students are involved in carrying out the research and are encouraged to publish their work in reputed journals or to file patents. Department faculty members and students have published several peer reviewed journal publications and patents are also filed.

The state-of-the-art infrastructure and lab facilities ensure good exposure and hands on experience for students during learning process. The syllabus of the courses is continuously updated and the laboratories are modernized to reflect the rapid changes in technology. The Department has strong industrial interaction and has been involved in the development of state-of-the-art products for the industry. The academic strength of the faculty is reflected by the alumni many of whom are in the top echelons of industry and academia both in India and abroad.
